Sloppy Meat Dip

Sloppy Meat Dip

Here’s a wonderful dip idea that hearty and perfect for a big party or get together. By mixing lentils into the hamburger you create a wonderful texture that your guests will love.

Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef
2 cups cooked lentils
1 onion, finely chopped
2 green bell peppers, finely chopped
1 tbsp minced garlic
1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp cumin
1 tbsp chili powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup mustard
1 1/2 cups beef stock
4 cups shredded cheese
Crostini’s for dipping

Instructions

To a large oven safe pan, add the hamburger, lentils, onion, bell peppers, garlic, flour, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, ketchup and mustard. Stir to combine and cook the hamburger.

Add the beef stock to the mixture and lower the heat to a simmer. Cook for about 20 minutes while occasionally stirring to reduce to a thick sloppy meat mixture.

Sprinkle with shredded cheese, and place under the broiler to melt the cheese. Carefully remove from the oven, and serve hot with crostini slices for dipping.
