Ingredients

1 pound hamburger or ground pork
1/2 cup finely chopped chorizo
2-3 tbsp lard
1/2 cup prepared salsa
4-6 cups cooked beans
2 tbsp taco seasoning
2 packages prepared tostada shells
6-8 cups shredded cabbage
1 tbsp taco seasoning
Sour cream
Shredded cheese, your choice
Prepared salsa
Cooking oil

Instructions

Brown the hamburger and chorizo in a pan until fully cooked. Season with taco seasoning and set aside.

In a separate large pan, heat lard until rendered, then add the prepared salsa and sauté for a couple of minutes.

Add the cooked beans to the pan and mash them into a refried bean consistency using a potato masher or immersion blender. Adjust thickness as desired by reducing.

In a large bowl, mix shredded cabbage with taco seasoning to taste and set aside.

To assemble the tostada towers, spread a layer of refried beans onto each tostada shell, followed by cooked meat and shredded cabbage. Top with prepared salsa, a dollop of sour cream, and shredded cheese.

Continue stacking the tostadas until you have about 6 stacked towers. Finish with a final dollop of sour cream and fresh salsa.
