Pretzel Fries

Pretzel Fries

Pretzels are delicious dipped in mustard sauce on their own. However, have you ever smothered them in cheese sauce, melted cheese, bacon and onions? These pretzel fries are perfect for your next party!

Ingredients

12 dinner rolls, I used Rhodes Bake and Serve
1/4 cup baking soda
12 cups water
4 tbsp butter
1/3 cup flour
2 cups shredded cheese, plus additional
1 cup milk
1 cup cooked bacon, chopped
3-4 green onions, chopped
1/4 cup diced red onion

Instructions

1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
2
Cut each dinner roll in half and roll out to about 5 inches (they must be thawed first). Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.
3
Add the baking soda to the water and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and place the rolled out dinner rolls into the water. Let them cook for about 2 minutes in the water, removing them and placing them bake on the parchment lined baking sheet.
4
Place the prepared dinner rolls into the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until they’re golden brown. Remove from the oven and place them in a shallow baking dish, set aside.
5
Melt the butter in a large pan and whisk in the flour completely incorporating it in the butter.
6
While whisking, add the milk and cheese. Continue cooking until the cheese has melted. Salt and pepper to taste.
7
Pour the cheese sauce over the prepared pretzels fries and sprinkle the additional 1 cup of shredded cheese.
8
Place the pretzel cheese fries back in the oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese has fully melted.
9
Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chopped bacon, green onions and diced red onion. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
