Cannoli

These Italian desserts are the BEST! When you make them at home, you can be creative and make them according to your likes. Serve as a dessert or with a sweet wine for the perfect treat.

Ingredients

2 cups flour
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp melted butter
3/4 cup sweet Marsala wine
1 egg white
oil for frying
Filling: 15 oz ricotta cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

1
In the bowl of your food processor with the blade attached, add the flour, sugar and salt. Pulse together to combine the dry ingredients.
2
To the food processor add the melted butter, sweet Marsala wine and the egg white. Pulse until the mixture pulse together into a soft dough. Remove the dough from the food processor and transfer to a small bowl you’ve sprayed with vegetable spray. Place the dough in the prepared bowl, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
3
Preheat the oil for frying to 350 degree’s. Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thick and cut with a 4-5 inch round circle. Roll the dough around a cannoli pipe. Being sure the seam end is well sealed, place them in the deep fryer and fry until they are golden brown. Carefully remove from the fryer and remove the cannoli shell from the pipe. Repeat until dough is finished.
4
To make the filling, in a large bowl add the ricotta cheese, sugar and vanilla together until smooth. Transfer the filling to a piping bag and snip the tip of the bag off. Carefully fill the cannoli tubes with the filling. Repeat until they are all filled.
5
Dust with powdered sugar, serve and enjoy these delicious Italian treats!
