Freshly Made Tacos

Fresh Tacos

Fresh tacos are amazing and fun to make. Whether you make your tortillas from scratch or not, tacos are always a great idea for dinner!

Ingredients

1 pound ground hamburger
1 tsp cumin
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp chipotle pepper powder
2 tbsp freshly chopped oregano
1 cup tomato sauce
2 cups shredded cheese
2 cups shredded lettuce
2-3 tomatoes, diced
Taco shells or homemade tortillas
Freshly made salsa
Salt and pepper to taste
Hot sauce to taste
Fresh Corn Tortillas: 2 cups Maseca
1 3/4 cups hot water
1 tsp salt

Instructions

Add the hamburger to a sauté pan along with the cumin, chili powder, chipotle pepper powder and freshly chopped oregano. Sauté until cooked.

Add the tomato sauce and continue cooking until the sauce has cooked down and liquid has evaporated. Remove form the heat, salt and pepper to taste.

To make fresh corn tortillas: Add the Maseca to the food processor with the dough blade attached. Add 1 3/4 cups hot water and salt. Pulse together until combine.

Divide into 12 equal portion balls, roll out into round 6 inch rounds, look them on a skillet until they are browned on each side (about 3-4 minutes each side).

To assemble the tacos, add about 2 tbsp of the cooked hamburger mixture, followed by shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce and a dollop of fresh salsa on top.

If you like, add hot sauce to taste, serve and enjoy!
