Margherita Pizza

Margherita Pizza

Making pizza for any occasion is so fun. I bought a pizza box that goes on top of grill to get that delicious stone fired pizza flavor. Use your favorite toppings and your favorite pizza dough recipe to enjoy a wonderful dinner idea for family and friends.

Ingredients

1 - 12 inch pizza dough round
1/3 cup fresh tomato sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp dried basil or 4-5 fresh basil leaves
Extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450 degreeā€™s with either a pizza stone inside the oven or an inverted metal baking dish.

Use your favorite pizza dough recipe to make this delicious pizza. The link for one of my favorite pizza doughs is in the description of this recipe or you can search my site for various pizza dough recipes.

To make my tomato sauce, I add 2 cups crushed tomatoes into a blender, 2 tsp salt and 1 tbsp Italian herb blend, 3 garlic cloves, 1 small onion chopped. Puree everything together. Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 1 week until ready to use.

Spread the tomato sauce onto the 12 inch pizza round.

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the pizza along with the dried basil. If using fresh basil leaves, tear them into small pieces and spread them around.

Transfer the margherita pizza to the preheated oven using a pizza peel baking on the preheated pizza stone or inverted baking dish. Bake until the crust is cooked and the cheese is bubbling.

Remove from the oven, drizzle with extra virgin olive, serve and enjoy!
