Fish and Chips

Fish and Chips

A delicious treat anytime of the week! Use any kind of white fish you’d like, however, I like cod or halibut. The key is using self-rising flour when creating your batter.

Ingredients

4 - 6 ounce cod fillets
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup milk
1 egg
2 tsp salt
1 tbsp black pepper
4 baked potatoes, cooled to room temp
Oil for deep-frying
Tarter Sauce
Ketchup
Malt Vinegar

Instructions

1
In a large pot, add about oil and heat to 350 degree’s.
2
In a large bowl, whisk the self-rising flour, milk, egg, salt and pepper together until well blended. Set aside.
3
Slice the baked potatoes into french fries and set aside.
4
Dip the cod pieces or fillets in the batter and fry in the hot oil until they are golden brown. Remove from the batter and place on a plate with paper towels on it to allow excess oil to drain off.
5
Fry the french sliced baked potatoes until they are golden brown.
6
Serve the fish and “chips” with tarter sauce, ketchup and malt vinegar if desired. Enjoy!
