Asian Hot Pots

Asian Hot Pots

Here’s a delicious idea for your next party! I call hot pots, Asian fondue and its a savory dinner idea that works great for any party of dinner!

Ingredients

Soup Base: 6-8 cups water
1/2 cup chicken bullion
1-2 tbsp hot pepper paste
1/3 cup Golden Mountain seasoning sauce
1/4 cup somen noodle soup base
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp sesame seed oil
1/2 cup coarsely chopped fresh ginger
6-8 kefir lime leaves
For the fixings: 4 cups assorted mushrooms
8 baby bok choy, cut into fourths
1 bunch green onions, trimmed and cut into thirds
1 pkg extra firm tofu, cut into 16 squares
4 cups assorted fish balls
1 pkg yam noodles
2 pounds thinly sliced beef
1 pound shrimp, shelled and deveined (20 shrimp approximately)
Ramen noodles
6 cups cooked rice

Instructions

1
To make the soup base, combine all the soup base ingredients into a large pot. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to simmer and simmer for 5 minutes.
2
While the soup base is simmering, arrange the “fixings” on a platter and place in the center of the table.
3
Divide the rice between 4 bowls and transfer the Soup base into a hot pot container and place it on the table making sure it is plugged in. Bring the soup back to a boil before starting. If you don’t have a hot pot container, use a bunsen burner with a pot filled with the soup so you can bring it to a boil.
4
Pick your favorite items from the “fixing” platter and place them into the boiling hot pot soup. Make sure the items are cooked through before eating.
5
When items are cooked, remove them with chop sticks, tongs or a fork and enjoy them with rice. This is like a savory fondue.
6
Be creative with your fixings and use what you have in the refrigerator to create a fun platter of yummy items to cook.
7
If you don’t have access to the Asian ingredients, use some ramen seasoning packets to create a delicious soup to boil your fixings in. Enjoy!
