Sourdough Rolls
You’ll need to plan ahead for these sourdough rolls. Get a sourdough starter going and enjoy the tasty baked goods it can provide! I love serving these rolls with my freshly made deviled ham.
Ingredients
7 cups flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
3 1/4 cups water
1 cup sourdough starter
2 tbsp salt
Instructions
1
Add of the ingredients into the bowl of your mixer.
2
Using the dough attachment, mix and knead the dough for 15 minutes. Please note depending on many factors, if needed, adjust flour and water to create a soft dough.
3
After you have kneaded the dough, transfer the dough to a bowl you’ve sprayed with vegetable oil, spray the top of the dough with vegetable oil, loosely cover and let the dough double in size. Depending on the temperature of your house and how active your sourdough starter is, this may take several hours.
4
Once the dough has doubled in size, remove from the dough and divide into 2 ounce portions. This recipe will make about 33 2-ounce rolls.
5
Shape the dough into rolls and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet. I can fit 12 rolls per baking sheet at home.
6
Spray the rolls with vegetable spray and loosely cover. Allow the rolls to double in size.
7
Bake the rolls in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes. If you want the rolls to be more golden, brush with an egg wash before baking.
8
Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the rolls to cool, serve and enjoy! I love these rolls with freshly made deviled ham. https://cookingwithchefbryan.com/recipe-view/deviled-ham/
