Vegan Sliders
Don’t shun #veganfood because you don’t think it taste good. This vegan sliders dish is amazing and starts with my delicious #seitan recipe. I actually enjoy this dish and hope you all do too!
Ingredients
1 1/2 cup vital wheat gluten
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp garlic powder
2 tsp chili powder
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 cup cooked lentils
1/2 tsp liquid smoke
1/3 cups water (more or less)
Marinade:
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tbsp maple syrup (real maple syrup)
2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
1
In your food processor combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, garlic powder, chili powder, tomato paste, cooked lentils, liquid smoke and water. Pulse together to combine into a soft dough.
2
Divide the dough into golf ball size rounds and flatten each ball like you would a hamburger patty. If you want larger patties make the balls larger.
3
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and placer a steaming basket into the pot. Steam the newly formed patties for about 25 minutes. If needed, do in batches until all of the patties are steamed.
4
While patties are steaming, make the marinade in a large ziplock bag and place the steamed patties in the marinade making sure they are all covered. Refrigerate for about 2 hours.
5
Pan fry or grill the marinaded patties when ready to serve. Build with your favorite toppings (buns, condiments), serve and enjoy!
