Ingredients

1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp vegetable oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1-2 Thai red chilies, sliced thinly (adjust to taste)
1 cup fresh basil leaves (Thai basil if available)
1 tbsp freshly minced ginger
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 tbsp water (optional, to thin the sauce)
Cooked jasmine rice (for serving)

Instructions

1
Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the beef slices with 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tbsp cornstarch. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
2
Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the remaining soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves and set aside.
3
Cook the Beef: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned, then remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
4
Stir-Fry the Aromatics and Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the garlic and chilies. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant, then add the onion, minced ginger and red bell pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.
5
Combine and Add Sauce: Return the beef to the skillet, pour in the prepared sauce, and stir to coat everything evenly. If needed, add a splash of water to thin the sauce slightly. Add the fresh basil leaves and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the basil is wilted.
6
Serve: Serve the stir-fry hot over jasmine rice, and enjoy!
