Sugar Rolled Molasses Cookies
When the holidays roll around, I bake these molasses cookies. The spicy aroma that fills my house is amazing. These are soft, rich in flavor, and finish up any cookie plater you may be serving.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups softened butter
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
2 large eggs
4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp ginger
2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp allspice
5 cups flour
sugar for coating
Instructions
1
Cream together butter and brown sugar for 3 minutes.
2
Add the molasses and eggs to the butter mixture and mix together thoroughly. When measuring molasses, spray the measuring cup with vegetable oil first for easy release.
3
Add the baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and all-spice and blend together.
4
Add the flour and mix throughly.
5
Shape the dough into small balls of dough and roll in sugar to coat the cookie ball. For a fun variation, try rolling them in brown sugar.
6
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 14 minutes
7
Remove the cookies from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets.
8
Once cooled, serve and enjoy!
