Submarine Sloppy Joes

Submarine Sloppy Joes

These sloppy joes are the yummiest sloppy joes ever! Served like a submarine sandwich, these sandwiches are easy to carry to your picnic or camping grounds. I used my homemade chili oil in the recipe to take these homemade wonders to the next level! Here’s the recipe where I show you how to make my homemade chili oil.

Ingredients

1 pound ground hamburger
1 pound ground pork
1 large yellow onion, grated
1 bell pepper, grated
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 cup ketchup
1 can Italian style tomato paste
2 tbsp yellow mustard
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp Chef Bryan’s Chili Oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Submarine Style bread

Instructions

1
Brown the hamburger and pork and drain off excessive fat.
2
Add the remaining ingredients to the pan, stir to combine. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the meat is cooked through. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed. If needed, add some water to the sloppy joe mixture to adjust consistency.
3
Cut the submarine style buns 3/4 of the way through, spray with vegetable spray and sprinkle with granulated garlic or your favorite seasoning blend. Broil until toasted.
4
Remove from under the broiler, spoon the sloppy joe mixture into the prepared buns.
5
I served waffle chips with these Sloppy Joes that were made using the wavy blade on my mandolin.
