Potatoes Three Different Ways
Potatoes are so versatile and can be prepared many different ways. Here are three ideas to make your potatoes delicious for the holidays mashed, whipped or riced. I like to serve them with my simple pan gravy recipe.
Ingredients
4-5 Idaho Russet Potatoes
4 tbsp butter
1/2 cup milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Peel and slice the Idaho Russet Potatoes into pieces and place in a large pot. Cover the potatoes with cold water, bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and cook until they are fork tender. Drain and set aside.
2
To make mashed potatoes: Place the cooked potatoes in a large bowl along with the butter and milk. Using a potato masher, mash the potatoes and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with a delicious pan gravy.
3
To whip the potatoes: Place the cooked potatoes into a mixing machine with the whisk attachment along with the butter and milk. Whisk the potatoes until they are creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with a delicious pan gravy.
4
To rice the potatoes: Using a potato ricer, rice the potatoes into a large bowl. Dollop with butter and and season with salt and pepper to taste. I do not add the milk into my riced potatoes. Serve with a delicious pan gravy.
