Pork Tonkatsu
Pork tonkatsu is a crispy fried pork cutlet served with finely shredded cabbage and tonkatsu sauce.
Ingredients
6 boneless pork cutlets
3 eggs
2 cups flour
2 cups panko
1-2 tbsp season salt
4 cups finely shredded cabbage
2 tbsp kewpie mayonnaise (Japanese Mayonnaise), optional
Vegetable oil for frying
Tonkatsu Sauce:
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tsp sugar
Instructions
1
Whisk the eggs together in a medium size bowl and set aside. Place the flour in a re-sealable plastic bag and do the same with the panko bread crumbs.
2
Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large fry pan and preheat to about 350 degreeās.
3
Season the boneless pork cutlets with season salt and dredge them in flour, dip in the eggs and then coat with the panko bread crumbs.
4
Fry the prepared pork tonkatsu until golden brown.
5
To make the tonkatsu sauce, mix the ketchup, worcestershire sauce, oyster sauce and sugar in a small bowl and mix it together until combined.
6
Serve the pork tonkatsu with shredded cabbage on the side (if wanted, drizzle the cabbage with the kewpie mayonnaise) and the tonkatsu sauce.
