Pork Souvlaki is a beloved Greek dish featuring marinated pork skewered and grilled to juicy perfection. This traditional recipe is perfect for a summer barbecue or a delicious weeknight dinner, bringing the authentic flavors of Greece right to your table. Pair with my delicious Greek salad for a wonderful dinner!
Ingredients
1.5 pounds pork shoulder or tenderloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
1/4 cup olive oil
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions
1
In a large bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
2
Add the pork cubes to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
3
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
4
Thread the marinated pork cubes onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
5
Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the pork is cooked through and nicely charred on the outside.
6
Remove the skewers from the grill and let rest for a few minutes. Serve with pita bread, tzatziki sauce, and a fresh Greek salad.
