Philly Cheesesteak Mac and Cheese

Philly Cheesesteak Mac and Cheese

Combine the rich flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak with the creamy goodness of mac and cheese. This indulgent dish brings together tender steak, sautéed onions and peppers, and gooey provolone, all mingling with cheesy macaroni for the ultimate comfort food experience.

Ingredients

For the Mac and Cheese: 12 oz elbow macaroni
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 ½ cups shredded provolone cheese
2 cups whole milk
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
For the Philly Cheesesteak: 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1
Cook the Macaroni: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2
Prepare the Cheese Sauce: In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, until lightly golden. Gradually whisk in the milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook, whisking constantly, until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar and 1 cup of provolone cheese until melted and smooth.
3
Cook the Steak and Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the steak and set aside. In the same skillet, add the onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
4
Combine and Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to coat. Gently fold in the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of provolone cheese on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.
5
Serve: Let the dish cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy the cheesy, savory fusion of Philly cheesesteak and mac and cheese!
