Peanut Butter Bars
This delicious recipe is courtesy of from friends at Macey’s Grocery Stores here in Utah. Peanut butter and chocolate are always a wonderful combination of flavors!
Ingredients
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup peanut butter
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup flour
1 cup oats
Chocolate Frosting:
1/4 cup butter (softened)
2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups powdered sugar
2-3 tbsp cocoa
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degree's. Cream the butter and sugars together until they are light and fluffy.
2
Add the egg, vanilla and peanut butter to the sugar mixture and blend until combined.
3
In a separate bowl, whisk all the dry ingredients together. Add the dry ingredients to the sugar mixture blending everything together.
4
Spread the batter onto a small parchment lined jelly roll pan you've sprayed with vegetable spray (approximately a 9x13 size).
5
Place in your preheated oven and bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until it starts to turn golden brown.
6
Remove from the oven and dollop with 5 tablespoons of additional peanut butter. Let the peanut butter melt and then carefully spread it across the top of the peanut butter bars. If the peanut butter isn't melting, place back in the oven for a minute to melt the peanut butter so it spreads easily.
7
To make the chocolate frosting, combine the frosting ingredients (butter, vanilla, milk, salt, powdered sugar and cocoa) into a large bowl, blend everything together. Frost the peanut butter bars when cooled. Serve and enjoy!
