Monte Cristo Sandwich
Monte Cristo sandwiches are easy to make and delicious. Use any kind of meltable cheese and bread you choose. Traditional, white bread is used, however, I used a whole grain bread for nutrition.
Ingredients
6 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
8 slices bread
10-15 slices of ham
10-12 slices favorite cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Butter
Instructions
1
Lightly toast the bread and set aside.
2
In a pie tin, whisk the eggs, milk, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper together until they are combined.
3
Build the sandwich on the toasted bread evenly dividing the ham and cheese onto four toasted bread slices and top each with the second piece of toasted bread to create the sandwich.
4
Heat a large sauté pan on the on the stove and add enough butter to lightly coat the bottom of the pan.
5
Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture throughly coating both sides of the sandwich.
6
Cook in the prepared sauté pan for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the sandwich is golden and the cheese has melted.
7
Serve the Monte Cristo sandwich with a fresh green salad on the side and enjoy!
