Homemade Yeast Donuts with Root Beer
Nothing says fall like homemade yeast donuts with root beer.
Ingredients
For the Dough:
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup water
7 tbsp butter, melted
1/4 cup powdered milk
1 tbsp instant yeast
1/4 cup sugar
4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
Oil for Frying
For the Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1-2 tbsp milk
Instructions
1
Add the eggs, vanilla extract, water, melted butter, powdered milk, instant yeast, sugar, flour and salt to the bowl of your mixer. Mix together with the dough hook for about 5 minutes or until the dough is smooth.
2
Transfer the dough to a bowl that has been lightly sprayed with vegetable spray. Spray the top of the dough with vegetable spray so it doesn’t dry out while proofing.
3
Cover the dough and allow it to double in size.
4
Once doubled, roll the dough out on a lightly floured work surface to about 3/4 of an inch thick. Cut the dough into desired donut shapes and place them on a slightly spray (with vegetable oil) baking sheet and allow them to double in size again.
5
To make the glaze, add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk into a bowl and mix together to create a powdered sugar glaze. If needed, adjust the milk and powdered sugar to get your desired consistency. Set aside until ready to glaze the donuts.
6
Preheat the oil (about 5-6 inches) to 365 degree’s.
7
Once the snapped donuts have doubled in size, fry them for about 2 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.
8
Remove them from the oil and glaze while they are still warm. Let them cool, serve and enjoy!
9
I serve them with homemade root beer. To make the root beer, just follow the directions on the root beer extract. Enjoy!
