Homemade Fruit Jam with Pectin

Homemade Fruit Jam with Pectin

Homemade fruit jam is a delicious, easy way to preserve the flavors of fresh fruits like strawberries, blueberries, or peaches. This recipe combines your favorite fruits with a touch of lemon juice and powdered pectin to create a perfect spreadable jam, great for toast, desserts, or even as a topping for yogurt.

Ingredients

6 cups fresh fruit (e.g., strawberries, blueberries, or peaches), hulled or pitted and chopped as needed
4 cups granulated sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 box (1.75 oz) powdered pectin

Instructions

1
Prepare your fruit by chopping it to the desired size. In a large saucepan, combine the fruit, lemon juice, and powdered pectin, stirring thoroughly. I'll use frozen fruit if needed when fresh fruit isn't available.
2
Add the sugar all at once, stirring to dissolve. Bring to a rolling boil and cook for an additional 1–2 minutes, or until the jam thickens. Be sure you stir to prevent burning.
3
Remove the saucepan from heat. Skim off any foam for a smooth texture.
4
Carefully ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4-inch of space at the top. Wipe the rims clean, secure the lids finger tight. Process the jars in a water-bath canner for approximately 15 minutes at 4500 feet elevation, 10 minutes at sea level. Remove jars, set aside and allow jars to seal. Once completely cooled, clean off jars and store in your pantry until needed.
