“Grandma Hansen’s” Molasses Cookies
Jacob Schmidt shares this holiday cookie favorite. He loved going over to “grandma’s” house and helping himself to a cold glass of milk and a freshly baked Molasses Cookie during the holidays!
Ingredients
¾ cup shortening
¾ cup oil
2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
½ cup molasses
4 cups flour
¾ tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp cinnamon
For the Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
3 tbsp milk
2 tsp vanilla
Instructions

1. In the bowl of your mixer, mix together the shortening, oil, sugar, eggs and molasses until well blended. Scrape down the sides as needed.

2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, ground cloves and cinnamon until everything is well blended.

3. Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients in 2 batches, blending well and scraping down the sides as needed.

4. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes. When chilled, roll the dough into golf ball sized pieces and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes.

5. While cookies are baking, whisk the glaze ingredients together until blended.

6. When cookies are baked, remove from the oven and drizzle with the powdered sugar glaze. Let the cookies cook, serve and enjoy!
