Fried Chicken with Eleven Herbs and Spices

Fried Chicken with Eleven Herbs and Spices

I LOVE fried chicken and this recipe is so full of flavors I could eat it up overnight. I like to serve mashed potatoes and gravy with green beans or carrots on the side. Be creative and make this a recipe a family favorite!

Ingredients

8-10 pieces of chicken
3 cups buttermilk
2 eggs
3 cups self-rising flour
1 cup corn starch
2 tbsp each basil, thyme, oregano, ginger, white pepper, salt
1/4 cup black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, celery salt, paprika
Oil for deep frying

Instructions

1
Soak the chicken pieces in the buttermilk for about 2 hours, covered and in the refrigerator.
2
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and whisk the eggs and buttermilk together.
3
Place the chicken into the buttermilk mixture and set aside.
4
In a large bowl combine the self-rising flour, cornstarch and the eleven herbs and spices. Using a whisk, combine the flour and spice mixture together.
5
Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture making sure it is evenly coated.
6
Heat the oil to 350 degree’s and deep fry the chicken for about 15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degree’s.
7
Serve your fried chicken with your favorite sides and enjoy!
