Ingredients

2 yellow onions, peeled and sliced
4 tbsp butter
3 tbsp flour
1 1/2 cups beef stock
4 boneless pork chops
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp garlic powder
4 slices monetary jack cheese
salt and pepper to taste
Vegetable oil

Instructions

1
Heat enough vegetable oil in a large pan to coat the bottom. Add the butter and sliced onions. Sauté the onions until caramelized (around 20 minutes), then remove them from the pan.
2
Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, thyme and garlic powder then cook them in the same pan until done. Remove the pork chops from the pan.
3
Add the caramelized onions back to the pan and sprinkle with flour. Mix together to combine, then add the beef stock. Stir until the sauce thickens.
4
Return the pork chops to the pan and simmer for a couple of minutes. Place a slice of monetary jack cheese on top of each pork chop and let it melt.
5
Serve the pork chops with mashed potatoes and your favorite vegetable. Spoon the French-style onions over the top of the pork chops. Enjoy your delicious French Onion Smothered Pork Chops!
