Easy New England Clam Chowder
New England style clam chowder is easy to make and a great idea for dinner! I served mine with freshly baked rolls, (Rhodes Bake and Serve Rolls).
Ingredients
4 tbsp butter
2 tbsp olive oil
1 medium size onion, chopped
4 carrots, chopped
4 celery sticks, chopped
1 large potato, chopped
1/3 cup flour
8 cups milk
4-6.5 oz cans of clams, juice and all
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Heat the butter and olive oil together in a large pot. Add the chopped onions, carrots, celery sticks and potatoes. Sauté everything together for about 5 minutes or until very fragrant.
2
Sprinkle the onion mixture with the flour and stir to incorporate everything together.
3
Add the milk while stirring and the clams (juice and all). Stir everything together. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Adjust salt and pepper as needed.
4
Serve with freshly baked rolls and enjoy!
