Chinese Pork Dumplings
Looking to make a fun dinner idea with friends and family? These dumplings are perfect for the Lunar New Year or anytime of the year.
Ingredients
For the Dough:
2 cups flour
3/4 cups water
1 tsp salt
Filling:
1 pound ground pork
1 tsp Chinese Five Spice
2 tsp white pepper
1 chicken bullion cube, crushed
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp finely grated ginger
4 green onions, finely chopped
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tsp sesame seed oil
Dipping Sauce:
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 tbsp Chef Bryan Chili’s Oil
2 tsp sesame seed oil
Instructions
1
To make the Dumpling Dough: In the bowl of your food processor with the dough blade attached, add the flour, water and salt. Pulse until dough pulls together. If needed, adjust flour and water to get a soft dough.
2
Remove the dough from the food processor, knead to smooth out the dough for about 5 minutes. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
3
Divide the dough in half and roll each half out to about the thickness of your thumb. Cut the roll of dough into about 1/2 inch pieces. Roll each dough piece into a 3-4 inch round.
4
To make the filling: In a large bowl, combine the filling ingredients ( ground pork, Chinese five spice, white pepper, crushed chicken bullion cube, mince garlic, finely grated ginger, chopped green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame see oil) and mis everything together until well combined.
5
Place about a tablespoon of filling into the center of the prepared dumpling and fold half of the wrapper over the filling, creating a “half-moon” shape. Pinch the edges of the dough together to seal. If needed, lightly wet the edges of dumpling to help them stick together better.
6
Place the prepared dumplings into a steamer basket and steam for about 20 minutes to fully cook them.
7
To make the dipping sauce, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, Chef Bryan’s chili’s oil and sesame seed oil in a small bowl and mix together until combined.
