Chicken Karaage with Cabbage and Pineapple
Yummy fried chicken Japanese style is a delicious idea for dinner. I like to use chicken thighs but you could use chicken breasts if desired.
Ingredients
5-6 Boneless Chicken Thighs
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame seed oil
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
1 tbsp granulated garlic
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
Oil for frying
Instructions
1
Cut the chicken thighs into bite size pieces and add them to a large re-sealable plastic bag.
2
To the chicken, add the soy sauce, sesame seed oil, sugar, grated ginger and the granulated garlic (salt and pepper as needed) and mix together. Seal the bag and let it marinate for an hour or so in the refrigerator.
3
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator and add the flour and cornstarch to the bag mixing everything together. This will coat the chicken.
4
Heat about 3 inches of oil to 365 degree’s and fry the chicken until its golden brown and cooked to 165 degrees internally.
5
Remove the chicken from the oil and let it rest for 10 minutes. Just before ready to serve, quickly fry the chicken to crisp it up. Serve with shredded cabbage
