Cake Box Waffles
I had a dream about making cake box pancakes and burned them! Needless to say, I woke up rather upset! This recipe can be made into pancakes (if you don’t burn them) but waffles work amazing too. Be creative and use any cake box mix you like and eat cake for breakfast!
Ingredients
1 cake box, 16.5 oz package
1/2 cup oil
3 eggs
3/4 cup water
Fresh Fruit
Instructions
1
In a large bowl, combine the cake box ingredients, oil, 3 eggs and water.
2
Whisk everything together to combine.
3
Heat your waffle iron and spray with vegetable spray (if needed).
4
When pouring the batter into the waffle iron, use less than regular waffle batter. For example, if you use 1 cup batter normally, use 3/4 cup batter. This adjustment will be individual based on your waffle iron to prevent batter overflow.
5
Serve with fresh fruit, berry syrup (I found is best) and your other favorite toppings and enjoy!
6
I used my coconut syrup base https://cookingwithchefbryan.com/recipe-view/tropical-pancakes-coconut-syrup/ and added chopped pecans to it. This is the sauce I used to toss the fruit in. Also, I used an orange infused olive oil for the oil in the cake.
