Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Buttermilk Fried Chicken

I LOVE fried chicken and this recipe is really easy. Use an insta-read thermometer to make sure the chicken is cooked to 165 degree’s internally. Once fried, serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!

Ingredients

8-10 pieces chicken (drumsticks or thighs)
1 tbsp salt
1 cup flour
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups club soda
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1 tbsp each smoked paprika, ground ginger white pepper, celery salt, salt, black pepper, granulated garlic, oregano, ground mustard, thyme, basil
2 cups flour
Vegetable oil for frying (about 1 gallon)

Instructions

1
Drumsticks should be fried for about 16 minutes and thighs should be fried for about 20 minutes. These times may vary and I would recommend getting an insta-read thermometer and frying the chicken to 165 degree’s internally.
2
Preheat your oil to 350 degree’s.
3
Place the chicken in a large bowl and sprinkle with 1 tbsp salt. Mix the chicken around making sure the salt coats the chicken evenly.
4
Place the flour (1 cup) in a plastic bag and toss the salted chicken in the flour.
5
In a large bowl whisk the buttermilk club soda 2 eggs and an additional 1 cup of flour together until combine.
6
In a large bag add the spices and 2 cups of flour, shake everything together to combine.
7
Dip the floured chicken in the buttermilk mixture and than toss in the seasoned flour mixture.
8
Fry the drumsticks and thighs until the internal temperature is 165 degree’s. Cooking times may vary so use an insta read thermometer.
9
Serve the freshly fried chicken with your favorite sides and enjoy!
