Italian Sloppy Joes
Here’s a delicious twist on an American classic. Try adding mild Italian sausage and some marinara sauce to your favorite sloppy joe recipe for a delicious twist.
Ingredients
3 pounds lean ground beef
1 pound mild Italian sausage
1 large onion, chopped
1 sweet pepper, chopped
1 tbsp minced garlic
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup yellow mustard
2 cups marinara sauce
1 can tomato paste (6 oz)
1 cup water
olive oil
salt and pepper taste
hamburger buns
Instructions

Brown the ground beef and mild Italian sausage in a large sauté pan. Once cooked, transfer the cooked beef to a colander and rinse (if necessary) off any excess fat. Set aside until ready to use.

Heat the sauté pan again and add enough olive oil to lightly coat the bottom of the pan.

Add the onion, sweet pepper, garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.

Add the cooked ground beef back to the sauté pan and simmer for about 10 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with your favorite hamburger buns and side dishes. Enjoy!
