Sourdough Pizza Crust
When making pizza, it’s important to allow the dough to relax for a good time to develop the gluten. The dough should stretch easily and shape into a pizza round when ready.
Ingredients
2 cups sourdough starter
2 cups water
1/2 tsp yeast
6 cup bread flour
1 tbsp salt
Instructions
1
In the bowl of your mixer, add your sourdough starter, water, bread flour and salt together. Adjust water if needed to create a soft dough.
2
Let the machine knead the dough for approximately 15 minutes. Remove the dough and place it into a bowl sprayed with vegetable spray.
3
Spray the top of the dough so it doesn’t dry out, cover with plastic wrap and let it double in size.
4
Divide the dough into 12 ounce portions spray with vegetable spray and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough double in size again. ( I like to place the dough in the refrigerator overnight until ready to use.)
5
Once ready to use, take one of the portioned doughs, press out the crust area and spread the center of the dough out to about 12-14 inch round pizza.
6
Build the pizza as desired with your favorite toppings.
7
When the pizza comes out of the oven drizzle the crust with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Serve and enjoy!
8
I like to bake my pizza on a baking stone in the oven that has been pre-heated to 450-500 degree’s. Be sure to preheat the oven with the stone in it so it gets good and hot.
