Sourdough Start

Sourdough Starter

I love sourdough baked goods but creating them requires a good starter.

Ingredients

2 cups water
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp yeast
4 cups flour

Instructions

Use a large mixing bowl and dissolve the honey in the water.

Add the yeast and let it re-hydrate for about 10 minutes.

Stir in the flour.

Loosely cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit on on the counter over night.

On the next day, stir sour dough start, cover it with plastic wrap and let it ferment for about 4 days on the counter.

After the fermentation, transfer it to a clean bowl, cover it and place it in the refrigerator.

Every week, remove 1 cup of starter and use it in a recipe

Replace the cup used with 1 cup of water and 1 cup of flour.
