Spiced Apple & Walnut Snickerdoodle Cookies

These spiced apple snickerdoodle cookies are the perfect treat to make your home smell wonderful. The warm spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger blend perfectly with the sweet apples and crunchy walnuts. These cookies are soft and chewy, with a slightly crisp edge. The combination of flavors and textures makes them irresistible. They are a great dessert for any occasion and will fill your kitchen with the cozy scent of fall.

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 medium apple, peeled and finely chopped
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
3 tablespoons granulated sugar, for rolling
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, for rolling

Instructions

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add Egg and Vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

Mix Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Add Apples and Walnuts: Stir in the chopped apples and walnuts.

Chill the Dough: Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll the Cookies: In a small bowl, combine the remaining granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Bake: Place the cookies on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
