Spaghetti Napolitan (Japanese Ketchup Spaghetti)

Spaghetti Napolitan (Japanese Ketchup Spaghetti)

This is a wonderful Japanese inspired pasta dish. I actually think every kid in the world has enjoyed a version of this pasta dish at least once. This is total comfort food.

Ingredients

1 pkg spaghetti (18 oz approximately)
1 pound country pork sausage
3-4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup diced onion
1 bell pepper, diced
18-20 button mushrooms, sliced
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sugar
4 tbsp butter
1/2 cup pasta water
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil
Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

1
Cook the pasta according to the package directions.
2
Heat a large frying pan on the stove and add enough water to lightly coat the bottom of the pan.
3
Add the pork sauce to the pan and cook through. Add the garlic, onion, bell pepper and button mushrooms sautéing for about 5 minutes or until the mushrooms get a little color on them.
4
Add the ketchup, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, sugar, butter and pasta water mixing everything together to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes than add the cook pasta directly to the sauce. Mix everything together to combine.
5
Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese and your favorite sides.
