Pulled Pork Sandwich

Pulled Pork Sandwich with a Caramel BBQ Sauce

These delicious pull pork sandwiches are drenched with a caramel bbq sauce and served in a taste submarine sandwich. Perfect for dinner, picnics or get together with friends.

Ingredients

1 - 5 lb pork roast
2 tbsp steak seasoning or to taste
BBQ sauce to taste
8-10 submarine sandwich rolls
For the BBQ Sauce: 1 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 stick butter (8 tbsp)
1 onion chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups prepared bbq sauce (about 1 bottle)

Instructions

1
Sprinkle the pork roast with the steak seasoning and roast in the oven until the internal temperature reaches 195 degree’s. Remove and allow the roast to rest and when cool enough to handle, shred the pork into a large bowl.
2
To prepare the caramel BBQ sauce: In a heavy bottom sauce pan, add the sugar, water and corn syrup. Gently stir to combine and bring to a boil. Using a pastry brush dipped in water, brush the sides of the pan to wash down any sugar crystals.
3
Bring the sugar mixture to a boil and continue boiling until the sugar mixture begins to turn a caramel color.
4
Add the prepared bbq sauce and stir to combine. Pour about 1 cup of the hot bbq sauce over the pulled pork (or to taste). Mix the pulled pork and bbq sauce together until well combined.
5
Cut the submarine about 3/4 of the way through. Open them up and place them cut side up on a baking sheet. Spray them with vegetable spray and sprinkle with your favorite seasoning (season salt, onion powder, garlic powder etc). Place them under the broiler until toasted.
6
Place the prepared pork in the rolls, serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
