Garlic Pepper Turkey
Whether you are roasting a turkey for the holidays or family gathering, this garlic pepper turkey is the best! I like to serve my rosemary orange cranberry sauce on the side.
Ingredients
1 turkey (14 lb turkey, approx)
4 garlic cloves, finely minced
2 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp celery salt
1 tbsp onion powder
1/4 cup olive oil
Instructions
1
Turkey should be fully thawed before cooking. Never thaw your turkey on the counter top, always thaw your turkey in the refrigerator allowing for several days to completely thaw it out. Turkey temperature should never get about 40 degree’s Fahrenheit.
2
In a small bowl, combine the finely minced garlic, black pepper, celery salt and onion powder until fully combined. I do like to add 1 tbsp of dried parsley to the spice blend on occasion.
3
Mix the olive oil and herb mixture together to combine.
4
Preheat your oven to 325 degree’s.
5
Remove the turkey from the packaging being sure to also remove the giblet packet too. Place the turkey on a roasting pan.
6
Spread the herb mixture all over the turkey and place it in the oven. Plan on cooking the turkey about 13 minutes per pound or until the turkey breast meat reaches 165 degree’s.
7
If you are stuffing the turkey, you must cook the turkey long enough so the internal temperature of the stuffing reaches 165 degree’s.
8
When the turkey is fully cooked, remove from the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes before carving.
