Sirloin Sandwiches with Red Onion Marmalade
This delicious steak sandwich is a great idea for dinner. Inspired from the “Beef, It’s What’s for Dinner” campaign, this recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser!
Ingredients
1 beef Top Sirloin Steak about 3/4 inch thick, 1 pound steak
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tsp steak seasoning
2 mini baguette rolls
1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese, optional
Marmalade:
2 tbsp olive oil
3 large red onions, thinly sliced
1/2 cup red wine or red cooking wine
1/4 cup finely chopped pitted prunes
1/4 cup fig preserve
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 tsp freshly chopped thyme
1/4 tsp salt

Preheat your grill.

Rub the sirloin steak with the minced garlic and your favorite steak seasoning.

Grill the steak to medium rare and let it rest for 10 minutes and slice into thin slices.

Slice the baguettes in half and grill them to put grill marks on the baguettes.

To make the red onion marmalade, place the sliced red onions in a sauce pan with the olive oil. Cook down the sliced onions until they are caramelized, stirring often.

Add the red wine, chopped prunes and fig preserves. Stir to combine everything and simmer for an additional 3 minutes to reduce the red wine.

Remove from the heat and stir in the freshly chopped thyme and salt. Set aside until ready to use.

Evenly layer each baguette half with some of the red onion marmalade and steak slices. Serve and enjoy!
