Au Gratin Potatoes
Whether its for the holidays or Sunday dinner, au gratin potatoes are delicious. This easy dish can me made with any type of shredded cheese and serve with ham, chicken, roast or any of your favorite protein dishes.
Ingredients
4 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
2 cups milk
2 cups shredded cheese
4-5 medium Russet potatoes, washed
2 cups Crispy Fried Onions
Steak Seasoning (use your favorite one)
Vegetable spray
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degree’s.
2
Heat a large sauté pan on the stove and melt the butter in the pan. Add the flour and whisk together.
3
Whisk the milk into the sauté pan with the roux until combine and add the shredded cheese. Carefully stir until the cheese has melted and the sauce is bubbling. Remove from the heat and set aside.
4
Spray a 9x13 baking dish with vegetable spray and set aside.
5
Slice the potatoes into thin slices about 1/8 inch thick. I like to slice them with my food processor so they’re each slice is the same size.
6
Do not rinse off the potatoes and layer them in the prepared baking dish with the crispy fried onions (the same type of onions you would use on a green bean casserole) and steak seasoning until all of the potatoes are in the dish. I like to finish the dish with the crispy fried onions on top and a sprinkling for steak seasoning.
7
Pour the cheese sauce over the potatoes are carefully guide it as necessary to prevent it from spilling over the edges.
8
Cover the potato dish with aluminum foil and place in the oven for about 1 hour or until the potatoes are fully cooked through. Remove and let the potatoes sit for about 10 minutes before serving, enjoy!
