Here’s a fun and creative dessert idea for Thanksgiving. Create your favorite fruit pies in a turnover!

Ingredients

For the Pastry: 1 cup cold butter
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup cold water
For the Fillings: Your choice prepared pie filling
For the Frosting Glaze: 2 cups powdered sugar
3 tbsp water

Instructions

1
Preheat oven to 350 degree’s.
2
In the bowl of your food processor, add the cold butter cut into inch pieces, flour and salt. Pulse together to cut the fat into the flour. You can use a pastry cutter if desired.
3
Remove the flour mixture from the food processor to a large bowl. Add the water to the flour mixture and with a fork, stir together into a soft dough. If needed, add additional cold water 1 tbsp at a time if more is needed.
4
Divide the dough mass in half and on a floured work surface, roll half of the dough into a square about 1/4 inch thick.
5
Cut the square into 4 equal squared. Spoon your favorite prepared pie filling into the the individual squares and fold one of the corners over on top to the other corner forming a triangle.
6
Using a fork, crimp the edges to seal them and transfer to a parchment lined baking dish.
7
Brush with an egg wash (1 egg whisked together with 2 tbsp water) and place them in your preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until they are golden brown.
8
While the turnovers are baking, mix the powdered sugar and water to create the glaze. If desired, adjust the powdered sugar and/or water to reach your desired constancy.
9
Drizzle each turnover with the powdered sugar glaze, serve and enjoy!
