Easy Fruit Thanksgiving Turnovers
Here’s a fun and creative dessert idea for Thanksgiving. Create your favorite fruit pies in a turnover!
Ingredients
For the Pastry:
1 cup cold butter
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup cold water
For the Fillings:
Your choice prepared pie filling
For the Frosting Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
3 tbsp water

Preheat oven to 350 degree’s.

In the bowl of your food processor, add the cold butter cut into inch pieces, flour and salt. Pulse together to cut the fat into the flour. You can use a pastry cutter if desired.

Remove the flour mixture from the food processor to a large bowl. Add the water to the flour mixture and with a fork, stir together into a soft dough. If needed, add additional cold water 1 tbsp at a time if more is needed.

Divide the dough mass in half and on a floured work surface, roll half of the dough into a square about 1/4 inch thick.

Cut the square into 4 equal squared. Spoon your favorite prepared pie filling into the the individual squares and fold one of the corners over on top to the other corner forming a triangle.

Using a fork, crimp the edges to seal them and transfer to a parchment lined baking dish.

Brush with an egg wash (1 egg whisked together with 2 tbsp water) and place them in your preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until they are golden brown.

While the turnovers are baking, mix the powdered sugar and water to create the glaze. If desired, adjust the powdered sugar and/or water to reach your desired constancy.

Drizzle each turnover with the powdered sugar glaze, serve and enjoy!

Lets face …I am the “cook” in the family…while husband has favorites, It’s all ME…until now…often he comes to me and says “YOUR” chef is on..(channel 2 news) and YOU should make what he’s making”….like these fruit turnovers you made yesterday…I’ve noticed this a lot lately…his “chef Bryan” suggestions…Now that is because we have tried so many of your recipes and they are now family staples…or favorites if you will.. I won’t make these today…but for sure the day after the big day..Thanksgiving…and I’m just telling you I’m thankful for you and recipe’s like this…
