Sesame Cauliflower
I love this sesame cauliflower recipe. It’s easy to make and tasty!
Ingredients
1 head cauliflower
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 egg
2 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup -3/4 cup potato flour/starch
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Sauce:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp toasted sesame seed oil
1/4 cup roasted sesame seeds
2 tbsp water
Instructions
1
Trim the cauliflower head remove the small cauliflower florets. Steam or blanche the florets until they are al-dente.
2
In a large bowl add the minced garlic cloves, egg, cornstarch and soy sauce. Mix everything together and add the blanched cauliflower florets to the soy sauce and egg mixture, stirring to thoroughly coat.
3
Sprinkle the potato flour/starch over the cauliflower florets, gently stirring to coat everything with the potato flour/starch.
4
Heat the oil in large pan and fry the cauliflower florets until they are golden brown.
5
To make the sauce, heat a large sauté pan on the stove and add the brown sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, honey, vinegar, toasted sesame seed oil, roasted sesame seeds and water. Whisk all of the ingredients together to combine and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and in a small bowl whisk 1 tbsp cornstarch and 2 tbsp water together and pour it into the sauce while mixing together. Bring back to a boil to thicken the sauce.
6
Add the fried cauliflower to the sauce, toss to coat throughly. Serve over rice and garnish with chopped green onion and additional toasted sesame seeds.
