Southern Fried Chicken
Fried chicken has many variations on how it can be made. My fried chicken has a delicious bite of spice to it from the hot sauce and all of the various spices used while making it.
Ingredients
1 whole roaster chicken, cut into pieces
2 tbsp Franks hot sauce
1 tbsp season salt
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp dried dill
1 tsp each oregano, dry mustard, ginger, onion pwd, garlic pwd, basil, smoked paprika
2 cups flour
1/2 cup corn starch
3 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 quarts cooking oil
Instructions

Buy a whole roaster chicken that has already been cut into pieces. If you prefer, you can fry drumsticks or thighs only.

Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl and sprinkle with Franks hot sauce, season salt, black pepper and dill. Gently toss the chicken to coat. Set aside for thirty minutes to marinade.

In a small bowl, mix the oregano, dry mustard, ginger, onion pwd, garlic pwd, basil and smoked paprika together. Stir to combine and set aside.

Mix the flour and cornstarch together in a large bowl and add the remains spices to the flour mixture. Whisk everything together to combine.

Heat your oil to 350 degrees.

In a medium size bowl, whisk the egg and buttermilk together.

Dip the chicken marinaded chicken pieces in the egg mixture and dredge in the flour mixture.

Place the chicken in the hot oil and fry for about 15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degree’s internally.

Remove the chicken and let them rest on a large plate lined with paper towels. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
