Easy Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies are delicious anytime of the year but especially fun on Valentines day. Frost or decorate your cookies however you want and give them to your sweetheart.

Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough: 1 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups flour
For the Buttercream Frosting: 1 cup soften butter
1 pound powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp milk
1 drop red food coloring
For the Cookie Glaze: 1 stick butter
½ cup milk plus 3 tbsp
¼ cup light corn syrup
32 ounces powder sugar (2 pounds)

Instructions

1
To make the cookies, cream the softened butter and sugar together for 3 minutes.
2
Add the vanilla, egg, baking powder and salt and mix to combine everything together.
3
Add the flour and mix until the mixture pulls together into a soft dough.
4
Roll out the cookie dough and cut into desired shapes.
5
Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges start to change color. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet.
6
To make the butter cream frosting, blend the soften butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, milk and one drop of red food coloring. Blend everything together until smooth.
7
To make the cookie glaze, melt butter in a large microwave safe bowl.
8
Add remaining ingredients and mix together until smooth.
9
Dip cookies in glaze and place on a wire rack. Allow glaze to set for about 1 hour.
10
Once the cookies have cooled, dip them in the cookie glaze and place them on a wire rack and let the cookie glaze set. It takes about 1 hour.
11
With the butter cream frosting, pipe your favorite decorations, names or designs on your sugar cookies.
12
If desired, just frost the cookies with the butter cream. Enjoy!
