Dutch Oven Cooking

Dutch oven chicken, potatoes and cherry cobbler are some of my favorite dishes. Whether you like to cook on the campfire or in the oven, dutch ovens are perfect!

Ingredients

For the Dutch Oven Chicken: 6-8 chicken thighs
1 large onion, sliced
1 tbsp garlic salt
1 tbsp season salt
1 tbsp ground sage
For the Dutch Oven Potatoes: 6 russet potatoes, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
1 cup beer
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
salt and pepper
For the Dutch Oven Cherry Cobbler: 1 box white cake mix
1 can sprite
1 can cherry pie filling

Instructions

1
To make the dutch oven chicken; Create layers of chicken and sliced onions in your dutch oven. Divide the garlic salt, season salt and ground sage in-between the layers of chicken and onions.
2
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour or until the chicken is fully cooked.
3
To make the dutch oven potatoes; rinse you potatoes after they are sliced to remove excess starch.
4
In your dutch create layers of onions and potatoes being sure to salt and pepper each layer as needed.
5
When all of the layers are created, pour the beer over the potatoes and bake the dutch oven potatoes in your oven for 1 hour on 350 degrees or until the potatoes are tender.
6
Remove the dutch oven potatoes from your oven and remove the lid. Sprinkle with the shredded cheddar cheese, cover the potatoes again and let them sit for about 5 minutes allowing the cheese to melt on top.
7
To make the dutch oven cherry cobbler; Pour the white cake mix into your dutch oven along with 1 can of sprite. Mix the sprite and cake mix together.
8
Pour the cherry pie filling into the cake mix and gently mix it into the cake batter. Cover and bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour or until fully cooked through. Serve with ice cream or your favorite toppings.
9
Serve the dutch oven chicken, potatoes, your favorite vegetable and the dutch oven cherry cobbler and enjoy!
