Beef Gyros

Beef Steak Gyros

Try the ever popular gyro with tender beef lat iron steaks. Serve this with a refreshing yogurt sauce. This will soon be a family favorite. This recipe is courtesy of the Beef It’s What For Dinner Campaign and the Utah Beef Council.

Ingredients

2 beef flat iron steaks, 1 pound
1 tsp dried oregano leaves
1 tsp minced garlic
4 whole wheat pita bread
Salt and pepper to taste
Yogurt Sauce: 1 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup diced cucumber
1 large clove garlic, minced
Salt and pepper taste

Instructions

Combine yogurt sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix together, cover and refrigerate until needed

Combine oregano and garlic, press evenly onto the beef flat iron steaks. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.

Place the steaks in the skillet and cook for 11-14 minutes for medium rare to medium, turning a couple of times while cooking.

Carve steaks into thin slices, season with salt and pepper as desired. Serve beef with the whole wheat pita bread, sliced tomatoes, onion and yogurt sauce.
