Baked Apple Roses

Baked Apple Roses

This recipe is a fancy twist on an apple pie. Made to look like a rose blossom, serve these with afternoon tea, a luncheon or just by themselves.

Ingredients

2 apples, cored and thinly sliced
1/2 cup water
juice from one lemon
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tsp nutmeg
2 sheets puff pastry
8 tbsp softened butter

Instructions

1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray 8 muffin tin compartments with vegetable spray.
2
Add the thinly sliced apples, water and fresh lemon juice to a large bowl and toss to coat the apples. Microwave the apples for about 45 seconds.
3
In a small bowl, whisk the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg together until combined. Set aside until ready to use.
4
Cut each puff pastry sheet in to 4 equal strips. You should have a total of 8 strips.
5
Divide and spread about 1 tbsp butter onto each strip. Divide the thin apple slices equally between the strips vertically on one side.
6
Divide the sugar mixture between the 8 strips of puff pastry then fold the other edge of the puff pastry over on top of the apples. This will look like and apple “sandwich” with the puff pastry folded vertically over the apples slices partially covering the bottom half of the apples.
7
Roll the puff pastry up lengthwise and place it in the prepared muffin tin compartments.
8
Bake for about 30 minutes or until they are golden brown. Remove form the oven and let them cool. Serve with fresh fruit and a dollop of whip cream. Enjoy!
